Ulta and MAC

I went to Ulta on last Friday and MAC to pick up some items for my kit and for a holiday party I attended that night. Originally, I went to get an Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Yeyo. It is perfect for making that little shimmer in the inner corner of your eye. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find Ulta had the Velvet Rope collection for just slightly over the cost of a full size pencil. The collection includes travel sizes of the best selling 24/7 pencils. The shades include Yeyo, 1999, Zero, Bourbon, and Stash. I swatched them and was excited that they went on so smoothly. After many rubs…they stayed on…hence the name 24/7.

I also picked up some MAXalicious glitz lip glosses by Max Factor that I saw on the show Blush. Unfortunately, they were not in the cute squeeze tubes I expected but the colors are very pretty. But getting two for $5.99 made me soon forget this small. The colors are Bubble Bath and Golddigger. Lastly, from Ulta I picked up Two Faced Eyeshadow Insurance. I have wanted to get this for my clients because UDPP is too hard to get out of the container. After feeling the consistency of my new product, I am thinking it may slightly more blendable.

From MAC, I got the Smokey Eye palette…was 25% off! It consists of six shades…Scant, Gorgeous, Satin Taupe, Ambiance, Dark Devotion, and Carbon. I was rushing to get to the holiday party so I wasn’t as neat in applying them on myself but because I was going for a smokey look, it wasn’t obvious.

Promise I will start posting looks soon…hopefully at least one a week.

Certified Airbrush Make Up Artist

So I spent the day in an intense professional airbrush make up workshop and finally upgraded to my new Temptu PS 35 by Iwata airbrush machine. The compressor has a max pressure of 40 PSI and a working pressure of 16-18. It's a gravity fed, dual action gun, internal mix gun with a .35 needle. Some pros about this unit is that it is nickel plated so it won't rust and has a stainles steel nozzle. And of course it's made by Iwata. After hours of intense training and countless times taking a part my gun (handle, chucking nut, needle, marriage, and trigger)I can say that I am a master! I learned so many helpful tips that will come in handy for my upcoming wedding gig.

Here is what comes in the set that that I bought...found at www.temptu.com

S One Compresor (with built in regulator, coil air hose, and airbrush holder
SP 35 Airbrush (with a dual action trigger adn .35 needle...also included are a 1/8 inch hose fitting, extra crown shape needle cap, and a wrench)

Temptu Airbrush Moisturizer, Primer, and three bottles of S/B (silicon based) cleaner, concealor wheel, a set of 7 blushes and highlighters, an a set of 12 foundations. Let's not forget the Airbrush Cleaning Kit that includes 70% alcohol, 5wire brushes, Medea Super Lube, and a little suction bottle. Lastly, it comes with a training DVD.

Last Weekend

So last weekend I participated in sort of a power photoshoot for which I brought my own model (and good friend). The first look I did was a neutral look...I used mostly neutral eyeshadows from my coastal scents palette. The second look was a bit more bold. I used Aqua and Orange from MAC on the eyes, with rhinestone accented lashes and a few on the face. Once I get the photos from the photographer I will post the real deal.

Updates

So I am finally done with my classes and can devote more time to the blog. I have so much to update! Firstly, yesterday I did make up for a fashion show put on by House of Style by Monique. I was one of two make up artist there and made up three girls. The photographer's photos will come later...but here is a peek at what they looked like. The other make up artist was Joy. Her skills are amazing and we worked really well together. Hopefully, we will get to work together again.

It was my first time using my Graftobian HD Glamour Creme Corrector Palette and I must say that I was ver impressed with it. I used in in combination with Cinema Secrets foundation and the look was almost flawless. I used the Soft Orange (which is a blue neutralizer) and the Yellow Hi-Lite (which cancels deep red and purple) the most. They seemed to work on all the models really well. The consistency was creamy and very blendable. I will definitely use this again. I look forward to using the rest of my Graftobian HD Creme Foundation Palettes as well.

Here are all the models from the fashion show.

Okay....so I am fairly new to this blogging thing...no not exactly true. The truth is I was changing out some pictures and mistakenly deleted some comments. Sorry! I promise I'll get the hang of this.

Well, I am very excited about my forthcoming posts. The good news is that I have been receiveing tons of make up from sponsors who would like for me to review their products! For those of you who are curious...I will be reviewing
  • Buff'd Mineral Cosmetics
  • EG Minerals
  • Graftobian Cosmetics
  • Coastal Scents
  • Urban Apothecary and
  • MAC

Let's not forget an update on my growing make up collection. I have added some super products that I hope to use really soon...perhaps on an upcoming wedding in a few months. Lastly, the opportunity arose for me to work with a well-seasoned make up artist here in the Atlanta area. I am so thrilled to learn new techniques, network, and offer my skills as well. More on that too, later.

Make Up Wordle Style

When beauty and make up come to mind certain images flood my mind. Don't get me wrong the two words are not synonymous. You don't have to be made up to exude beauty. It should enhance the luminosity that comes from within.

I came up with this cute word cloud because it was referenced at a technology conference I recently attended. The Wordle site was intended to aid educators by generating word clouds that help to teach concepts such as word choice. When you type in text, the words that appear larger are more frequently used. However, the site is a fun way to make some really cute and creative word art.

Make Up Vanities

Make up vanities are essential elements in the world of make up. This is what my new one looks like. It's from Ikea, the Malm collection. I actually got the idea from MissChievous.
