Autumn Faves

Unfortunately these days I have been extremely busy with little time left to blog or read my usual blogs. So I made the extra effort to get to it today. Let’s see…busy at work…got into a fender bender a while back, started workout boot camp…just so much going on that by the time I get home and get in my boot camp homework (which consists of many reps of various exercises, jogging (or in my case doing my elliptical because my new treadmill doesn’t work and my new one is on order) I’m exhausted. But today I wanted to share a few products that I’ve picked up that I really like, especially for the colder months.

But first back to the boot camp thing. Can you believe that for the last two weeks I have been getting up at 4:45am to partake in an extreme indoor/outdoor workout. I have to admit although I didn’t think I would make it…it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time. I have one of the best trainers around and have managed to gain strength, endurance, and shed a few pounds in just nine days. Unfortunately I managed to sprain my ankle last week so I have to sit out a few days. But hopefully the doc will give me the ok to get back out there at the end of the week.

Now for my autumn faves. Aside for my usual search for impressive beauty products, I have been looking for products that fit into the whole eat better and take better care of myself plan. So to start I am reviewing Debbie Meyer’s Lockin Green Boxes.

Lately with my hectic schedule although I buy really healthy foods, I find myself having to through them out after a few days if I’ve not gotten around to eating them. So to stop my wasting I discovered these neat boxes that are suppose to extend the life of your food while keeping it fresh. According to the company who makes them, Green Boxes can help extend the shelf life of a variety of vegetables, snacks and breads. They also feature airtight, watertight Lockin' Seal™ lids for secure closure. Plus, one of each size includes a handle lid for easy carrying when you need to take food with you, so they're perfect for leftovers or potlucks, too! So far, I am using them to store my cereal, apples, salad, carrots, and bread. And so far I already love them. Maybe because everything has its own place and it’s easy to see what’s inside. So the Lockin Boxes are definitely one of my autumn faves.

Also on my list are a few beauty products that include two lip care products by Nivea, A Kiss of Shimmer Pearly Shimmer Lip Care and their Kiss Of Rejuvenation Q10+, Anti-Aging Lip Care SPF 4, the Bliss Lemon + Sage Body Scrub, and Covergirl’s Exact Eye Lights for Hazel Eyes. I absolutely cannot leave home without one or both of my Nivea lip products.

They come in handy to use prior to working out to keep my lips nice and soft. Since they both have a really nice consistency and hint of color, I also don’t feel as naked when I forget my lip color. Here’s what the one that contains Q10 looks like…it has a beautiful iridescent pink color to it. It’s supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and visibly enhance the natural fullness of lips. The only bad thing about this product is that it tastes pretty bad. Like it’s supposed to be a lotion and not made for the lips. But since I love the way it protects my lips I’ve learned to live with it. I like everything about the Kiss of Shimmer one…and it actually smells and tastes nice. The consistency is more like a lip balm and it also has a nice pink color that looks natural.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the Bliss scrub after having read reviews that it’s messy. I didn’t find that to be the case at all and it left my skin feeling rejuvenated and smooth. It’s made to be massaged on pre-shower skin. Then you proceed to scrub in circular motions as the grains lift away dead cells, leaving your skin smooth, supple and silky.

The last beauty product almost made it to my list of autumn faves but didn’t quite make the cut. It’s the Covergirl Exact Eye Lights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadow Palette for hazel eyes. I really liked the way the colors made my eye color pop, and the colors were easy to blend. Would I recommend them just for the purpose of accentuating hazel eye color? Probably not. I think you can do that with pretty much any color since most hazel eyes are known to change colors ranging from green to blue to brown.

Last weekend I used the palette for a somewhat natural look before going to dinner at a new Ethiopian place in town. Here’s a peek at the food (Awaze Tibs, Kitfo with cheese and Gomen, and salad). I’ve been twice in two weeks…the food is really good.

With much anticipation, on my part that is :), as a special thanks to my followers both old and new, I will be announcing my first ever contest this Friday and show you a sneak peek at some of the prizes. The contest will begin this Friday the 6th and run through Nov. 27th. I’ll post the complete rules and how to enter Friday. Have a wonderful week!
